CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2021-2022 RECIPIENT!
Brayden Smith
This Service Award is going to a student who truly exemplifies the meaning of serving the community. When the scholarship committee read Brayden's personal essay, we were all blown away not only by his commitment to service, and his creative writing, but by his passion for helping animals, which will also result in helping people live better and healthier lives. In his recommendation letter, he was described by one of his teachers as a high performing student who is more than just a scholar. He competes as an athlete, leads in student organizations, and engages civically in our community. Brayden was a part of the Math team, Tennis Team, Student Council and Scholastic Bowl. He volunteers for the Northern Illinois Food Bank and planned and executed an extensive service project constructing 4 large bat houses. He was also in the Boy Scouts, and earned his Eagle Rank, which typically only 5% of all scouts who join are able to reach. He is planning to study Zoology with a minor in Global Health at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Congratulations Brayden! We know you will do great things! |
